Lowell E. Breyley, 87, formerly of Bucyrus, passed away peacefully at Legacy of Marion on Friday evening March 22, 2024.
He was born on April 29, 1936 in Spencer, Ohio to the late William and Della (Allen) Breyley. Having moved to Sycamore, Lowell graduated from Sycamore High School in 1954. After graduation, Lowell attended The Ohio State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he was deployed on the U.S.S. Boxer and U.S.S. Norton Sound. After Lowell’s military service, he was married to Margaret Breyley.
Lowell worked for Swan Rubber for several years before retiring. He also helped with pheasant deliveries for Windy Ridge Pheasant Farm. Lowell was a patriotic and humble man. He enjoyed reading books, particularly about the World War II era, performing complex mathematical calculations, dabbling in woodworking, learning about World History, and he liked 1940s big band music, especially the Glenn Miller orchestra band. Lowell was privileged to travel to Washington D.C. as part of the Honor Flight.
Lowell is survived by three children, Rusty (Michele) Breyley of Tiro, Randy (Brenda) Breyley of New Washington, and Robyn (Tony) Sheets of Bucyrus. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother, Bill (Joanne) Breyley, and a sister, Irene Bell.
In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lyn Bell.
To honor Lowell’s life, a private funeral service and burial with military rites occurred on March 27, 2024.
